Hi! I have a Win98 computer hooked up to a DOS laptop as a network. Unfortunately, the Win98 computer can only do it in DOS mode. The laptop has no sound card, but I believe the Win98 computer has a Sound Blaster compatible sound card. Also, the network setup has no EMS memory. Can anybody recommend a good TSR-based MIDI player for the Win98 computer?

I have the dos software for midi, but it is part of
the SB PRO software, and uses the midi chip of the card.

In win311WFW i have 16tons.exe as midi player.
It might work under win98, maybe.....

If you want it, mail me, ***@ppllaanneett.nnll

I need it for DOS, as the Win98 computer is in DOS mode while being networked.

BTW, I tried http://www.resoo.org/docs/dos/free_software/sound.htm#midiplayers but couldn't find what I wanted.

I did scan SIMTEL msdos(downloaded that a few years ago) but
found no useful program.

Well,I downloaded that, and it has no internal midi synth.

It needs an external one.

Since I already use the SBPRO midi interface, it is useless for me.

DOSMid can also use the OPL3 chip of your card, or drive an EMU8K synth,
as found on board of SB AWE cards.

If you look specifically for a soft-only player, then OpenCP has MIDI
support and uses GUS patches for generating sound.

I thank you both for your input. I wanted a TSR to play MIDIs in the background but thought this would be enough. I didn't try it yet. Any other recommendations?

Uhh...I ran the included the TUI program, and, when I opened a file, it locked up. :(
