ANSI.SYS con be found in the MS-DOS distribution disk. Last one was MS-DOS 8 in the Windows Millennium CD, for example. Oen with 7zip Windows free utility the BASE2.CAB in the CD \winme (or something like that,I don't remember folder name exactly now) folder, dearch for ansy.sys and copy it out of the CABinet file.

I'm pretty sure Windows ME still includes ANSI.SYS.

Use the PROMPT command or environment variable to specify the ANSI escape
character for changing the prompt text color. Make sure the ANSI.SYS is
already loaded. Bee below for the ANSI escape characters.
